I’m up early this morning because I’m
pretending to be a grown up attempting to get all of my errands done getting all of my errands done before I head to my parents’ place this afternoon … and also because I wanted to make sure I’d have time to give you the latest Superfluous updates before I left the city.
If you’re a regular around here, you’ll know that I recently issued a challenge to a certain blogger. If you’re one of the newer Wonderfuls who’s just recently joined us, here’s your guide to what the heck has been going on:
Have you ever come across someone in your travels and thought, “Oh – there you are!” You’ve never met before, but you recognize them right away all the same: they’re one of your people. They know what’s important to you and what makes you laugh and why certain television shows are a really, really big deal. That’s what happened at my first job, where I met one of my best friends; and that’s what happened when I met Dave.
The difference in these two situations, of course, is that I don’t tease my best friend about making out with him. Dave, meanwhile, has been rapidly moving up the ranks of my favourite Imaginary Boyfriends for a while now, and I’m pretty sure that if we ever got our act together and managed to actually be in the same place at the same time, we’d just get married.
I’m teasing again, but that’s the point. I joke with Dave about our destined romance all the time; when I recently worried I had crossed a line, he said, “I’d love to see what it looks like when you go too far – it hasn’t happened yet.” Hence the challenge.
Last night Dave asked that we extend the challenge for another week; he has the adorable notion that I’m going to blink first and he may actually win this thing. So, Wonderfuls, brace yourselves: if you thought things were like a screwball comedy around here before … you haven’t seen anything yet.
Dave – let the games begin. xo.
